Pastoral Newsletter

March/April 2010

As we shake the winter blahs and thankfully welcome spring, it is a good time to remember that with spring comes new life.  I was recently meditating on Rev. 22:1-5 where we find the awesome description of the river of life flowing from the throne of God.  It reminded me, once again, that all life flows from God and, therefore, all lives matter to God.

With the pressure, disappointment, and stress of our modern American culture we are seeing hopelessness at a new level.  As disheartening and sad as this is, it is also an environment in which many might be willing to take a fresh look at Jesus, who offers us living water.  We are surrounded by those that are spiritually hungry and thirsty, and we need the Holy Spirit to open doors of opportunity with them.  Our faith stories spoken to those the Holy Spirit is drawing is like a cup of water to the person dying of thirst.

Our founding pastor, Dan Wolfe, shared in a message recently how important it is to show kindness and love to people.  When Dan shared that, I was reminded of what Paul wrote to Titus in his letter:  “When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.”  Kindness and love are like the spring rains that cleanse and refresh the earth.  Let us give abundantly of both.

In closing, may all of you be refreshed and renewed during these spring months.

   Be Blessed,

  Ron
